GND ENGG COLLEGE, BIDAR
Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Bidar, a premier center of Technical Education, was established in August, 1980 by the Prabandhak Committee, Gurudwara Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb, Bidar as per the Govt. of Karnataka Order No.ED 150 TEC 79, dated 8th August, 1980. At present College is being managed by Sri Nanak Jhira Saheb Foundation (Trust). Initially, the College was affiliated to Gulbarga University, Gulbarga. However, subsequently a separate Technical University Viz. Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, has been established during the academic year 1998-99 and since then this College has been affiliated to the said University. This College is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and Accredited by National Board of Accreditation (N.B.A.), New Delhi. GNDEC started in the year 1980 with an annual intake of 120 in three traditional branches. Presently its intake is 570 in seven disciplines leading to B.E. Degree in :

The College became a constituent institute of University of Agricultural established in the year 1984-85 vide Govt. ORDER NO. AAH78(1)/ AUM- 87 dated 14.8.1984 under the then undivided University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, so as to cater to the needs of the people of this region in general and livestock farmers in particular. To begin with the College Sciences, Dharwad with its establishment in the year 1986. Consequent to the transfer 156 acres of Government land the campus development was initiated and the college was shifted to the present Nandinagar campus in the year 1988. At present the College has 17 Teaching Departments in addition to Teaching Veterinary Hospital Complex and demonstration livestock units. The college has a good linkage with the Institutes of scientific repute like Indian Institute of Science, Institute of Animal Health & Veterinary Biological, National Dairy Research Institute, National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Central Frozen Semen Center & Training Institute, Department of AH & VS, Karnataka Milk Federation etc.

HORTICULTURE COLLEGE, BIDAR
Bidar: The University of Agriculture Sciences, Dharwad, will set up a Horticulture College in Bidar from this academic year.
The first year course will begin in a rented building and in one year, a campus will be developed, Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashempur said here on Sunday. He was addressing a progress review meeting on the opening of the college. The State Government plans to set up a Karnataka Horticulture University this year. Horticulture colleges and research institutions related to the field will be administered by the university, the Minister said. Mr. Kashempur asked the university officials to utilise the building of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra on the Janawada Road or the Sericulture Seed Development Centre in Kolar or the Institute of Sugar Technology in Halahalli in Bidar taluk for the college. He promised to provide government assistance to the university to set up the college. University vice-chancellor J.H. Kulkarni said the college would need 200 acres of land at least half of which should be irrigated. The college would also need buildings for classrooms, offices, libraries, laboratories and hostels, apart from an auditorium and a sports complex. FOR MORE DETAILS CLICK HERE
